Chocolate & Cherry BrowniesNot a Serbian recipe Chocolate & Cherry BrowniesNot a Serbian recipe for you this week ... but I made these deliciously decadent Choc & Cherry Brownies 🙂I had some left over cherries sitting in a jar, with no particular plan on what to do with them. So, instead of making the Serbian Sour Cherry Strudel (which is already on the blog) I opted for these brownies 🍫Chocolate and cherries are such a good combination, so you cant really go wrong here. In the end you get soft, chocolatey brownies filled with chucnks of cherries. This is such an easy recipe to make. It does not take long to come together. Recipes like this are ones I make when I want something relatively quick but super yummy 🙂.The recipe is up on the blog if you want to give this chocolatey goodness a try!
A random photo dump from the month of May 😄It A random photo dump from the month of May 😄It's a mix up from our trip to Serbia ❤️ and some moments from NZ. May was a special month because I went back home for the first time in 3 years, mostly due to covid ofcourse. I may also be going back in July so I am super excited about that 😀Coming back to NZ was nice but the jet lag lasted a whole week and it was hard to get back into routine. Ive baked only a couple of treats since being back home and began my new sourdough starter.I had a sourdough starter 2 years ago, but I found I was feeding it more than I was using it. The way I kept the old sourdough starter was also too complicated. Keeping it simple this time and planning to use it more for homemade goodies 🙂
Vanilice / Vanilla cookiesThese cookies are a Se Vanilice / Vanilla cookiesThese cookies are a Serbian delicacy and the most favourite cookie of my childhood. Made with two buttery cookies that sandwich a delicious apricot jam and dusted with some powdered sugar, these are the perfect melt in your mouth cookie.I love vanilice and I enjoy having them on special occasions, especially during the festive season. They really are a great bite-sized cookie. They store best in an air-tight container..when we were kids it was always tempting to open up tin containers around the house because they were bound to hold delicious treats like this. And the taste of these cookies only gets better with time. If you want to make them, the recipe is up on the blog 🙂
Photo dump from Belgrade.Starting off with the b Photo dump from Belgrade.Starting off with the best @ferdinandknedle. These are the best potato dumplings filled with various sweet fillings. My favourite is the nutella and wild berry knedles 🤩I always go and have knedle with my sister 🙂The other pics are from walks around Belgrade, from Kalemegdan to Stefan Nemanja Spomenik and the waterfront. Some snippets from the Museum of Yugoslavia as well.I love walking around Belgrade, it's the best way to see and experience the city. Walking around Kalemegdan and Zemun are my two favourite places 😍

Cake at Golubac TvrdjavaA trip is never complete Cake at Golubac TvrdjavaA trip is never complete without a visit to at least one epic castle or fortress 😁We drove 2 hrs from Belgrade to this amazing midieval fortified town. It was built in the 14th century, which just blows my mind!!You can walk through and visit some of the towers, but not all (the rest were closed on this day). The towers are much higher than they seem. Especially the ones higher up the hill.Even if the rest of the towers were open, I am not sure I would climb them because my fear of heights is real 😅There is also a cafe near by where you can admire the view. We ordered a creamy cake which was just delicious!
